August 4–7, 2026 · Online · ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode
The BIG (Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics) Facility, ICAR – Indian Institute of Spices Research, organised an Online Workshop on Integrative Omics from August 4 to 7, 2026. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Sona Charles, with Dr. Maneesha S R and Dr. Mukesh Sankar S serving as Co-Coordinators. A total of 22 participants — comprising 16 females and 6 males, including 5 scientists from various ICAR institutes — attended the programme.
The workshop covered a comprehensive range of topics: an introduction to bioinformatics and omics; biological databases and file formats; the Linux operating system and command-line tools for biological data processing; R programming and data visualization; genome assembly; transcriptomics data analysis; statistics for bioinformatics; and Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS).
The four-day programme combined conceptual discussions with demonstrations and practical-oriented learning, providing participants with a foundational understanding of computational approaches used across different areas of omics research and equipping them for further application of bioinformatics methods in biological research.
