Training on Production practices in small cardamom and ginger

In commemoration of 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence, ICAR-IISR Regional station Appangala jointly with ICAR-KVK Gonikoppa organized a one day training programme to the input dealers on 13.01.2022 at Appangala. In the technical session there were three lectures viz., Varietal wealth of Cardamom and ginger, pest management and  Disease management in Ginger and cardamom by Dr. Shivakumar, M. S., Dr. M. Balaji Rajkumar Dr. Mohammed Faisal Peeran and of ICAR-IISR RS, Appangala, respectively. Following a elaborative discussion on pesticide selling and its cautions were explained. Further, they were also trained on labels and label claim issues and avoiding indiscrimate use of the pesticides. After the technical session there was interaction session where scientist clarified doubts and interacted with dealers and replied to their queries regarding small cardamom and ginger cultivation.

In post technical session they were also taken to different nursery where propogation methods of various spices were explained by Dr. Honnappa Asangi. 41 people participatedand benefited in the training program.
