Improved varieties
  • Five high yielding and high quality varieties namely, Suvarna, Suguna, Sudharshana, Prabha and Prathibha yielding 43-60 t (fresh)/ha were released.
Crop management
  • Organic farming of turmeric utilizing various organic cakes as nutrient sources were developed.
Pest and disease management
  • Management schedules for shoot borer namely, application of insecticides and biopesticides (Bacillus thuringiensis product) were developed.
  • Technologies for the storage of seed rhizomes involving seed treatment with fungicides and insecticides and use of leaf mulches were developed.
