Improved varieties
  • A high yielding and high quality of ginger namely, Varada yielding 22.6 t (fresh)/kg was released.
Crop management
  • Technologies were developed for organic farming of ginger utilizing various organic cakes as nutrient sources.
Pest and disease management
  • Integrated management technologies for rhizome rot disease involving solarization of seed beds, phytosanitation, cultural methods, biocontrol agents and chemicals were developed.
  • Strategies for the management of shoot borer by pruning infested shoots and application of chemicals and biopesticides (Bacillus thuringiensis product) were developed.
  • Technologies for storing of seed rhizomes, involving seed treatment with fungicides and insecticides and use of leaf mulches were developed.
